Animal Husbandry
So does anyone have any good tips to share on animal wellbeing?
For example I found out how to treat hotspots (irritated spots where the hair falls out or they pull it out) on dogs the other week. Apparently Fennel seed sprinkled over their food for a week or so does wonders. Not too much though, as it can have adverse affects to their digestion. You do have to hide it though as fennel smells like licorice which is not very appetizing to most mutts. I even tried powdered fennel which earned me alot of dirty looks and uneaten meals. However the hotspots disappeared in less than two weeks (it had been there for months).

Turtle Shells
Also I have a turtle who lives outside in the warmer months. A couple of times a year (4 or so) he gets his shell rubbed down with oil, usually oil from a sardine can, yum. This is to ensure the shell doesn't dry out and start cracking from the outside.
However I feel I should start supplementing that with something else. Vitamin E perhaps? But I'm stuck. I've researched through my books with little to no results.
Anyone have a suggestion?
