Summer Baking
So I tried a new recipe this week for a friends birthday. It's from a box mix but bear with me.
Strawberry and Rose Cake
-start with strawberry cake mix
-add oil, water, and eggs as box says
-also add rose flavoring or rosewater (about a teaspoon)
-mix this well
-after baking cake, let it cool thouroghly
-add a thin layer of cream cheese icing
-then cover with a single layer or sliced strawberries
-looks nice garnished with rose petals.
Some people were not fond of the rose flavor but mostly people really enjoyed it. Plus it's quick and easy.
I don't suggest leaving the rosewater out, the mix taste rather baking soda-y without it.

Re: Summer Baking
Sounds good! Besides there is nothing wrong with boxed mixes, just do what my Grandma does - say they are just a special little something you cooked up.
